SMSeGov NEWSThis study is significant to knowledge (especially Information Systems, Management, and Public Policy disciplines), to local authorities and e-government practitioners by explaining and predicting the user acceptance of SMS-based e-government services. In the end, this research is beneficial for citizens.
This study will develop a theory which explains the behavioural intentions and actual usage of SMS-based e-government services. It may provide a theoretical foundation for other studies on user acceptance of ICT for public services particularly which utilize SMS technology. This study is necessary since the SMS-based e-government itself is relatively new in concept but popular in implementation. Early implementation was first reported in 2001 (Alampay (2003) and most of the existing papers are project reports. There has not been single study on the acceptance of SMS-based e-government services
This study could assist you to diagnose the reasons why aplaned SMS-based service may not be fully acceptable to citizens and to take corrective actions to increase the acceptability of the services, and to predict citizens acceptance toward a new SMS-based e-government service.
By understanding factors that influence people to choose and to use the public service channels, the results will assist your local authority to provide more acceptable public services by the SMS channel.
